World University Services of Canada (WUSC) - Treasurer
WUSC at U of W is currently looking for a new for a new treasurer to be part of the executive committee. Being the treasurer would involve establishing budgets and organizing finances in a responsible, sustainable manner for our group. The treasurer works closely with the other executive members, as well as the UWSA and the administration at the University of Winnipeg. Volunteering with WUSC would provide you with unique and credible experience that is relevant to your degree and career upon graduation.
In addition, being a part of WUSC enables you to meet lots of new people, network with professionals, and meet newcomers. There are opportunities to volunteer and work overseas such as with students without borders and the international summer seminar, which is in Nepal this year and has the possibility to be used for university credit. Most of our current members have also been able to attend the annual general meeting in Ottawa and Quebec.
We hope that you’re interested in becoming a part of WUSC and we hope to see you at our first meeting of 2010 on Wednesday January 20th from 1230-120 in 4M39.

Recruiting Business Students' Committed Volunteers to start a non-for-proft organization
Chris Mongula, a University of Winnipeg Business Admin. Alumni, and his co-worker Donna Dagg are thinking of starting a Non-For-Profit organization and are looking for volunteering students, specifically Business Students to assist them with setting it up and running it. At the moment, it is just an idea and they need to form a team of at least five active members who will be co-founders.
"We are intending for the organization to raise funds by selling jewels, fund raising to run the organization, hiring skilled immigrants with designing experience and education but cannot find jobs because of lack of Canadian Education but are internationally trained. All the proceedings will be split into two portions. The biggest portion will be going to help with different causes in affected communities surrounding mining areas in developing countries e.g. building schools, clinics, paying tuition fees, etc. The remainder of funds raised will be invested back in the organization to help running the organization: pay salaries, etc. All the money will be given out.
The students will benefit through gaining first hand, real life experience with writing a comprehensive business plan and go through the whole business start up process. They will be co-founders o f the organization, get some experience running a NFP organization, sit on the board of directors, making serious business operations’ decisions: marketing, cash flows management, etc.
I should mention again that these are volunteering positions that require much commitment but the rewards and satisfaction will be worth the efforts in the long run.
We are looking into meeting for the first time on February 6th with further information on the meeting’s agenda forthcoming.
Sincerely,
Chris Mongula."
